ALUMNI STORIES: ROBERT BUGBEE

ROBERT BUGBEE

ROBERT BUGBEE

Robert S. Bugbee’s father came to Orange County from Kansas as a child, and his mother’s parents were born and raised in Orange County. In 1978, Bugbee decided on a career change from automotive to police work and began his studies in police science at FC. In 1979, Bugbee joined the Brea Police Department and after graduation he was invited to become an academy instructor, and has been on the academy staff since then.

As a student he bounced around from daytime to nighttime classes depending on his work schedule, and after a long career in police work, now enjoys being part of the beginning of so many young adults seeking a career in Law Enforcement. He has thoroughly enjoyed being part of the training process that enables students that are interested in police work to realize their dream. If students plan on attending the Police Academy, Bugbee recommends that they come completely prepared both mentally and physically.

Working full time and attending the Reserve Academy taught Bugbee to be very disciplined and aware of time management. Bugbee’s time at FC as a student built a good foundation to continue his formal education, and obtain the skills necessary to be successful. As an instructor, he has been able to give back to students wanting to join a career that he completely enjoyed for more than twenty-nine years.
