STUDENT STORIES: ALEXANDRIA GUERRERO

ALEXANDRIA GUERRERO

December 2, 2012

My name is Alexandria Guerrero, and I am 20 years old and have been at Fullerton College for about 2 and one half years. My family and I moved to Yorba Linda from Whittier when I was in kindergarten. My parents always loved the surroundings and felt that it was a very beautiful city. I attended El Dorado High School in Placentia/Yorba Linda all 4 years of my high school career. My older sister is 6 years older than me so she had already been in college by then. She attended Fullerton College along with Santiago and Cal State Fullerton. She ended up leaving Santiago Junior College and went to Fullerton College because she felt a liking to Fullerton College better. This is the reason why I too also chose to attend Fullerton College. Before college I stopped talking to a lot of my high school friends, and it seemed to be over the last 2 years I have made so many new friends within my classes. Everyone at Fullerton College is friendly and make it a fun environment to learn in. This would also go for all the teachers at Fullerton College. I am almost ready to transfer, and I would say there was not one teacher I disliked. All the teachers I took were awesome and made it fun to learn. I have discovered many changes within myself like maturity and becoming more outgoing. There’s a huge difference from high school, because at school a lot of people hang out in the library or that cafeteria. Everyone seems focused and driven to make it far to either get their degree or transfer to a Cal State or UC. I was lucky to come in my freshman year with a older boyfriend who helped me choose the right classes to take in order to transfer. This would be a very important factor I would raise to coming in student. Make sure you meet with a counselor along with doing well on your placement test. Always go off the IGETC list, ,which will help you choose the right classes you need to have done. I feel that I am growing as a person after attending Fullerton College, and I would not have wanted to attend any other junior college around. This college has molded me into a bigger, better, and more intelligent person. I would definitely recommend this college to everyone around. Its a great place to learn and to make friends. I hope others can make as good memories as I have and I would definitely recommend Brandon Floerke as an English Teacher and many other teachers as well.
