STUDENT STORIES: BRIANNA BARNES

BRIANNA BARNES

This was my first semester attending Fullerton College directly out of high school. As many other students and myself experienced the change and diversity between the two types of schools it was slightly overwhelming and nerve-racking to start school. My very first time at the school was when I went to take the placement test. After I got my test results back I realized I hadn’t placed into the classes I would have liked to. Almost all of the four subjects I tested in came back under college level. It wasn’t till later that I found out that those were the classes that were impacted the most. I had a very difficult time getting even one class. As I looked back at my test results I saw a section where it suggested I look into the TAP program and said that I was qualified. I looked a little more into the program and realized it may really benefit me considering I was planning on transferring to a 4-year college. I went to a meeting where I ended up signing a contract with them and directly after got my classes for that semester. I just remember thinking this program was amazing and really saved some time and money on my part. Being apart of this program now gives me confidence in school, and makes me feel like someone really does care about my future and helping me achieve my goals. If it weren’t for TAP I most likely would have considered if not dropped out from school already. Being in TAP helps me push through all the hard work and see the shining light at the end of the tunnel so to speak. I recommend this program to all my friends who have a committed goal to transfer and are serious about their future goals. I would hope anyone who is feeling the same way would join as well. That being said I would just like to thank everyone who’s a part of TAP as well as the school for allowing all students such a wonderful program.
