STUDENT STORIES: SUMMER MALLOY

SUMMER MALLOY

Two years ago I would have never thought I would be living in California. If you asked me where Fullerton Califonia was, I counldn't tell you. Coming to Californa was something you could call a whim. Being from a military family moving has become second nature to me so I love the adventure it holds. In 2010 I was a senior in high school living in Colorado. My mother just retired from the Air Force after 23 years of serive, and my step dad was deployed overseas training pilots. In April of that year two men walked to our door and gave us the news of the death of my step father. The months to come would be some of the most difficult I had ever faced.

Living with the struggle of loss may have led me to Californa. Becoming a Fullerton College student, I have met such wonderful people. The staff in the Veterans Resource Center has been the most caring and helpful getting me on the right track to becoming a sucessful student. Through the VRC I started working at the college. Being able to branch out and meet people from the other offices such as DSS has really help me at Fullerton College. The staff here are some of the most considerate and helpful people I have been lucky enough to meet.

I thank Fullerton College for making my college experience a wonderful one and helping me along the way.
