STAFF STORIES: EZRA VAN HORN

EZRA VAN HORN

Ezra Van Horn was head coach of Fullerton College’s Men’s Basketball program over a 9-year span from 1972-1981 and the men’s golf coach from 1981-1985.

As the FC basketball coach, Van Horn posted a 140-121 overall mark (.536) ranking him 6th all-time in the wins category for the Hornets.

Van Horn brought the Hornets two South Coast Conference Championships; 1976-77 (11-1 conference, 15-12 overall) and 1980-81 (9-3 conference, 18-13 overall) His best overall season came in 1978-79 when he guided the Hornets to a 23-8 mark.

Van Horn’s basketball coaching career spanned a total of 20 years.

Prior to joining the Hornets, Van Horn was the head men’s basketball coach at Cypress College during the 1971-72 season with a 12-15 overall record. Van Horn was also the head men’s basketball coach at Western High School where his teams won two league titles, and at Los Alamitos where he guided his teams to two more league tiles. He earned “Orange County Coach of the Year” honors in 1969-70.
