GENE MCKIBBIN

1924 – 2010

Eugene McKibbin, passed away peacefully on Wednesday, April 7, 2010 at Fullerton Gardens Care Facility in Fullerton, California.

Eugene was born August 24, 1924 in Pemberton, Minnesota to Leslie and Alice McKibbin. Eugene served in the U.S. Army from 1944-46. He was part of the U.S. occupational force in Japan. Upon returning from the Army, he completed his education at Mankato State Teacher’s College in Minnesota, receiving a BA in Education. He continued on to the University of Minnesota receiving a Masters Degree in Economics. He and his wife, Donna, moved from Minnesota to California in 1952, living in Temple City, Garden Grove and Anaheim. In Anaheim he continually nurtured his avocation of rose growing and enjoyed sharing the blooms from his 100 rose bushes with all his friends and students. Eugene’s life’s work was that of a TEACHER – the only title he wished used in referring to his 50+ years in education. Eugene taught Economics to thousands of students in his 40 years at Fullerton College.

He is predeceased by his wife, Donna and son, Matthew. Eugene is survived by his son, Mark (Sheila) and granddaughter, Heather.

Donna and Eugene McKibbin will also be remembered through a scholarship created in their names through the Fullerton College Foundation.
