No current instructor has brought more international and national recognition to Fullerton College than John Tebay, current Coordinator of the Music program at Fullerton College, the largest among all California community colleges.

John Tebay received his Bachelor of Music Education Degree from Biola University. Prior to joining the Music Department Faculty at Fullerton College, he held the position of Choral Director at El Dorado High School in Placentia from 1981 to 1986. He was named Teacher of the Year in 1985.

John Tebay began his career in 1976 as Minister of Music and Worship at Calvary Church of Placentia, California where he directed the music program for 17 years. In 1981, he became the choral director at El Dorado High School in Placentia, California. He has been director of choral studies at Fullerton College in Southern California, since 1985. During that time he has conducted the 110–voice Concert Choir, the Chamber Singers, the Collegiate Chorale, the Men’s Chorale, the Women’s Chorale, the Vocal Jazz Ensemble, and the song and dance troupe, Bravo, which he led for 24 years.

Mr. Tebay’s choirs have performed throughout the United States, Canada, Mexico and overseas. They have performed at American Choir Directors Association conventions, and they have been a guest choir in Mainland China, performing with the Beijing University Symphony and the Shanghi University Symphony. In addition, the choir has competed in the International Eisteddfod Choral Competition in Llangollen Wales, the Seghizzi International Choral Competition in Gorizia, Italy, and the Singkreis Porcia Spittal Choral Competition in Spittal Austria. The choir has also performed at the Mormon Tabernacle, California State Capital, Yosemite National Park and has taken East Coast and Pacific West tours.

John has also served as a guest director of the Men’s Chorus at the Biola University Conservatory of Music and interim choir director at the Crystal Cathedral.
