MIKE SGOBBA

Mike Sgobba began his coaching career at Fullerton College in 1961, retired from coaching in 1985, and continued to teach until 1988. Sgobba rounded up his stellar coaching career at FC with 487 total wins and 500 overall.

Producing only four non-winning seasons during his reign as the Hornet skipper, Sgobba won 2 league titles in 1971 & 1982 and was twice selected as “Coach of the Year”. Sgobba sent over 150 student-athletes on to four-year schools, and had over 80 head into the professional ranks.

Sgobba was selected to the Junior College Baseball Coaches Association of California, selected to the Illinois State University Hall of Fame, President of the Southern California Baseball Scouts Association for 7 years, and has officiated baseball, basketball, and football at the high school, college, and professional levels.

Sgobba had been a professional major league baseball scout for over 35 years spending time with the Oakland A’s and the Arizona Diamondbacks.
